Critic's Review
It still has the Red White and Green of Napoli's, but it's now a Mexican Restaurant. In the middle of nowhereville, you wonder why anyone would want to open a restaurant here.
The building was pretty beat up, but they did a nice job giving it a makeover. It's very festive, with sombreros on the wall and flowers on the table.
Much like Jalisco, when you sit down you get chips and soup before you get a menu. The have 2 pages of lunch specials and an extensive menu with all of the favorites. You can definitely find something to your liking. The chips were out of a bad, but I liked both Salsas; the hot was just a little bit hot.
The soup was superior to the salty broth you get at some places; this had some shredded chicken and vegetables in it as well as rice; it was a nice starter. Music isn't Mexican; Rob Thomas, Neon Trees and Shakira plays at a seroius volume. The steak came out very fast.
This is a decent size for $9.95; I don't like plantains so I got extra beans. The problem with the steak is that it wasn't medium rare as ordered, nor was it freshly grilled. You can tell when a steak is fresh off the grill; this steak lacked juiciness and was medium well. They must pre-cook them and just warm them up. It's too bad, because the chimichurri was nice and garlicky. This would have been an A+ lunch if the steak was prepared as ordered.
Service here is professional if not terribly friendly.
I was ready to highly recommend this place until I got the steak; I still think that there's enough positives to consider it again. Everything from the salsa, soup and the sauce were deftly prepared.
