Critic's Review
Boulevard Subs is a little joint in the Boulevard Plaza building just north of Dixie Highway on Oakland Park Blvd. In our quest for the best Italian Sub in town made in a place not named Subway, we find this place.
Be aware that they close early; not interested in the late-lunch or dinner crowd. They close at 3pm during the week and 2:30 on Saturday. The first time we tried to get a sub here they were closed.
Service is fast. I ordered an Italian Sub with the works; hot peppers on the side, yet the counterperson still asked 5 or 6 questions. They need to have a default sub. I don't like to make decisions on my lunch hour. Deciding where to go is difficult enough.
The service was quick; I was in and out before I could check my email on my phone. They use Dietz and Watson cold cuts here, which in my opinion on superior in taste to Boar's head. The Dietz and Watson turkey is particularly good.
I have to admit that I was leaning negative on this place before I tried it; and the girl at the window annoyed me. But the sub was top notch. Nice soft bread, ripe tomatoes, good cold cuts. The portion was a bit less than you get at Bozos or LaSpadas, though. They do have 3 sizes so you can get your sub to fit your budget and your appetite. A 9" sub for $6.25 is certainly fair for what you get here.
