Critic's Review
Another day, another chinese take out place on Federal. This one is called Beijing Chinese Food, not to be confused with Beijing Express.
It was their first day open so some confusion is to be expected. Its a small place, with 2 cramped tables and a wood counter. Consider this place take-out only.
They have 32 choices for their lunch special for $5.95, and 36 choices for dinner combos for $8.95. You can get soup or egg roll and white or fried rice with the specials. For a lunch special, I opted for Hunan Beef, fried rice and an egg roll.
They have condiments out on the counter but I didn't anticipate that they don't give you any by default. I'm not sure if this is due to newness or policy; but I'd suggest checking the bag before leaving the store.
The food gets a mixed review. The egg roll was no good at all; skinny, filled with nothing more than cabbage and just a waste of calories. The fried rice was also a bit bland, but they do give you plenty of it. The Hunan Beef was better, although it wasn't very hot or spicy. Perhaps its not fair to review a place on its opening day. But I didn't find anything here worth going out of my way for. Its certainly a good value for lunch, so give it a try if you're in the area.
