Deano's is closed, because when you have a bad idea and bad food, you lose money.

When I heard that Deano's was opening in the former Bierbrunnen space, I was so excited that I didn't even bother giving it a listing. It's owned by an entertainment company, so it wasn't clear that they were going to have food. I long since forgot about it; I was recently poking around and saw that they served breakfast all day. Since my breakfast article has become quite popular, I figured I ought to figure out whether I could recommend them as an option at the beach. They've also planted some staged food photos on Tripadvisor and Yelp.
If you'd been to Bierbrunnen, there weren't any seats along the long alleyway on the way to the main bar area. This place is sort of the opposite; they have a bunch of tables up front and don't seem to want anyone sitting in the main room; at least not in the morning. When I got there I was the only customer, so I grabbed a big table that seemed like it might be the most comfortable. They've covered the crusty cement wall with banners to make the place look more like a club than an alley.
Since you're at the edge of the alley, you have somewhat of a beach view. Better than your average alley.
When I arrived the first thing they asked was if I wanted coffee. They dropped off a menu, but it was quite some time before coffee was delivered. The first sign of trouble was when they told me the "special", a spinach omelet with fruit for $12. Since I could get a veggie omelet with fruit for $11 normally, it seems that they were just checking to see if I was paying attention. The server was "training", which means that she had no idea what she was doing. the rollup on the table had a big soup spoon, which was almost as big as the tiny cup, so I asked for a tea spoon. I just ordered 2 eggs over easy with sausage; and she told me that they only have Italian sausage and no breakfast sausage. It seems to me that if you make a big deal out of "breakfast all day" that you should stock some sausage. No matter, I like Italian Sausage. I can do without the sage.
Music here generally sucks; this is a club that serves food. Beyonce, Chris Brown, LMFAO. Real garbage. I spotted my server with my food as she entered the alley. There's plenty of notice (and anticipation).
Obviously whoever is cooking has no idea how to make over easy eggs. The Rye bread came out a few minutes later; they cut it very thick and gave me a heal. A cheap portion of potatoes, although they were decent home fries. Hot Italian sausage. Really bad coffee. Weak, nasty stuff.
Kind of a wonky, makeshift plate, but not terrible. Nothing I can recommend, but better than Beach Bunnies.
$3. for the bad coffee made this a $10.60 breakfast. I'd be weary of expecting anything like the staged photos they have on various websites. This is a club that serves food.
