Critic's Review

PrimoHoagies claims to be moving to another location, but I see no evidence of where that might be.

Review 4/25/15

When a place named PrimoHoagies opens up just down the road from a place named Premo's Subs, it's easy to get confused. But unlike Premo's, which is a single location, PrimoHoagies is a franchise operation out of Pennsylvania with a lot of locations in PA and NJ; Fort Lauderdale and Orlando are the first 2 in Florida.

Somehow, Primo slipped under the radar; I didn't know anything about it. Today I gave it a try.

Primo inside

It's a little bigger than the average South Florida Sub Shop, which rarely have any table inside for eating. This place has a few table inside and a couple on the sidewalk as well. I don't eat in Sub Shops, so I did take out.

They have 3 sizes, small which is 6", regular which is about 9" and some ridiculously large thing thats 22-24". I opted for a loaded regular sized Hoagie with peppers on the side. For those of you who don't read regularly, I always order peppers on the side because they tend to give you a lot more. Unlike my last sub at Gilligan's, these guys were pretty diligent about getting the sub the way that I ordered it.

When I got it home, I opened it up. It was wrapped tight as a drum.

A pretty good sized sub for $9.05 with tax. To get the full story, you need to cut it an half.

This baby was loaded; even more so when I added the peppers. The bread was sturdier than most places use; I liked it. In fact, I really liked the sandwich. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time, both in taste and quantity.

They use Thuman brand cold cuts, which is a premium brand. You Yankee fans might remember that Joe Torre was their spokesperson when he was managing the Yankees.

There's a new sub shop in town that makes LaSpada look like a bunch of kids. Try it; I'll bet you like it.

I really miss this place, excellent sub....or hoagie if you will. They used legit torpedo rolls, crusty, they way it should be. Other south Florida sub shops fall flat with their soft
pathetic "Wonder Bread" rolls. Did they really re-locate?
