When you eat out a lot in Fort Lauderdale, you put a lot of quarters into parking meters. I've been ripped off way too often, and its really starting to irritate me. I usually only have 3 or 4 quarters at most, and when the meter eats 2 of them I may not be able to have enough time to do what I want to do. So its more than just a financial thing; the meters are keeping me from being productive. And they're costing local restaurants money, because sometimes I just grab a slice instead of doing a sit-down meal.
The meter pictured here was on Breakers Ave. The first quarter I put in took; the second was ignored. The 3rd and 4th registered. The next 2 did nothing. Its annoying. And it happens way too often here in Fort Lauderdale. In fact, I can't remember the last time I had 4 quarters register correctly in a row.
I wonder if the city is doing this on purpose? This smells of evil government at work. It's bad for business; ripping off tourists and visitors. I hope that's not the case.
