Critic's Review

I made a few dollars on a BWLD trade a couple of weeks ago, and I started looking around to see where there was a location down here. They're opening one in Pembroke Pines just west of Hollywood in a few months, and there's another one in Coral Springs. I stopped in for take out when I went to the Salt Life Shack, and I was surprised at the space.

It's a big room, and from a purely technological standpoint, this is one of the best sports bars in Broward Palm Beach. The bar has a well-lit bar and lots of new flat panel TVs; the place is only a few months old and everything it bleeding edge.

Separating the 2 rooms is a big projection TV; again, the newer better kind, not the older projectors like they have at Duffy's in Fort Lauderdale.

Buffalo Wild Wings Coral Springs Big Screen in Bar

I was thinking that this would be a good screen to watch your game; they'd likely show the Dolphins on a Sunday, but maybe for Monday or Sunday night when your team was on.

I'd ordered the jerk wings because I hadn't had them in a while. They smelled like hell on the drive home, and when I opened the box they looked pretty messy, as jerk wings often can be.

Not very good blue cheese. I tasted the wings and they were awful. Not just bad, but terrible. While they were spicy, they were way too sweet; the difference between good and bad jerk is too much sugar. I couldn't eat these; I had to repurpose the wings. I rinsed them off and re-marinaded them with Walkerswood Jerk Seasoning. I grilled them and had them with some home made blue cheese and they were great.

It was the first time in a while that I didn't write something right after the visit. I didn't feel I could properly represent the wings just because of 1 bad sauce. So I went back on a day when the Yankees had a day game. When I walked in, I was surprised to see the Little League world series on the big screen, with the Yankees and the ATP Tennis tournament on secondary sets. The place wasn't dead but there were plenty of tables; I grabbed on in front of the game and waited. After about 5 minutes my server showed up; I still didn't have a menu. She took my drink order and got the drink before I got a menu, which seemed backwards. Finally I got a menu.

I had planned on ordering the Ribs & Wings combo, not anticipating that this location doesn't have ribs. Great. I wasn't going to order a burger, so I just got a "snack", which is 7 wings and a side of cole slaw.

My heart sank a bit as she put this in front of me. First, I ordered the medium and she gave me mild; not really a problem as the mild is really medium heat. But the fact that everything is served in cardboard, and the sauce was obviously poured on from a bottle.

The cole slaw was lousy; they either used cheap mayo or just a bad recipe and the celery and carrots were old. The wings were OK, but the sauce was obviously nothing special.

The music here is awful; Sia and Cascadia, and way too loud. I ate the wings quickly and asked for the bill. I asked the server why the Little League game was on the main screen instead of professional sports and she said its just on whatever someone asked for, but that there would be a plan for Sunday NFL. Great, so whoever gets there first controls what's on the big TV.

I didn't know that Buffalo Wild Wings was fast food; now I do and so do you. When I first walked in I thought the place was a candidate for my Where to Watch Football recommendations, but between the bad food and bad music, it doesn't make the list.
