After 5 years, Coyote Ugly has closed it's ugly doors, apparently forced out by the State over some signage violation. According to their web site, they were assessed 100K for not having the proper signage, and the dispute led to someone buying off the tax lien and forcing out the business.
Now I was no fan of Coyote Ugly. I think I went in there once. A place that has girls dancing on the bar that can't get very good looking girls to do it isn't going to last forever, because I'm rarely drunk enough to not care about such things. But this is an example of problematic government. When governments can force businesses to close by citing murky ordinance violations it should raise the concern of all businesses and citizens.
