SAIA, a sushi restaurant in the new B Ocean Hotel, Opened in early April with Midtown Manhattan prices in an apparent Mis-interpretation of the Fort Lauderdale culinary environment. Asking for $40 for a 12 piece sashimi plate and $7 for a slice of Tuna seemed a bit out of touch. When your target audience is people with more money than brains, you have a tough sell, particularly in such a competitive economy. They've dropped their sashimi prices substantially, and their sushi prices as well.
Of course now that it's off season, they'll need to run some specials as well to keep up with the Jones'. How about a happy hour?
