Critic's Review
There's a lot of bad pizza in Boca Raton, and trying to find a good once can be frustrating. I'd heard about Big City Pizza, but with so many Big City themed places around, I hadn't had a chance to try them. I noticed that they have 18" pizzas (the correct size for a NY style pizza), so today was their day.
The place is a small storefront and has a couple of places to sit inside, but this is really a takeout/delivery place. They don't deliver to Fort Lauderdale, so it's just pickup for me.
I ordered a half sausage pizza for a change, and it was waiting for me when I arrived exactly 16 minutes from when I called. I took a look at it, and I could tell this would be a good night: Yankees vs Cubs on Sunday Night Baseball and an 18" pizza. What could be better?
Their menu says that an 18" pizza is 12 slices, which is just wrong. I asked them to cut it to 8 slices.
From a structural standpoint, the pizza was perfect; good sausage and the crust was just right. It was a very good pizza. It could have used a bit more cheese and the sauce was ordinary. But in this neck of the woods, it's a very good pizza and a good value.
