Critic's Review
Olive Garden; a place where the food on their website doesn't even look good. Frankly, the only one I've ever been to is the one in Fort Lauderdale, and it's just a horrible place. I was up in this area where there are an astonishing number of bad chain restaurants; I figured I'd see my distaste for the place was due to something specific in that location. There are, after all, any number of people who just love the place.
Walking up to the front door it was very promising; considering the location in this labyrinth of buildings and winding roads, the entrance was quite attractive. But when I opened the door, the fantasy was over.
The dated bar was downright creepy; I can't think of an era that this would be considered a nice bar. I asked for a table and the hostess said it would be a little while. Say what? A wait at 3pm on a Weekday? There weren't that many cars; just how big was this place.
The place smelled funny; I was hoping it was just the bar. Finally she led me into dark, dingy dining room and sat me in front of an entrance in an empty dining room. Why was I waiting.
The dining room smelled worse. Why would anyone come here? I couldnt stay here long, so I just ordered some soup. I wanted to try the Zuppa Toscana; a concoction of potatoes, sausage and "greens". Luckily it came out quickly.
Watery, bad sausage, big strips of potato and kale. What a treat.
The server was ticked, but that's the way it goes. They can't all be this bad, can they? Good Grief.
Thanks for keeping this one off my list!!!
