The Copacabana Fort Lauderdale is Closed. Just a few months after it's opening, just at the beginning of prime season, all traces of the short-lived supper club are gone.
The Tilted Kilt has opened in this location.
The place never made any sense; a latin-themed dance club in downtown Fort Lauderdale with a $15 cover. Several times I considered going to check it out, but I was never sure when the cover started and I wasn't paying $15 to get in. On Fridays they had "Chicken Paella", which is what, chicken and rice?
The funniest thing that happened was when they put up an ad on their facebook page for a "Marketing Intern", as if a club in Fort Lauderdale that advertised with postcard handouts on Facebook is Ogilvy & Mather or something. It was obviously an inappropriate ploy to get someone to work for free; in fact they even said that they'd be working the door. "Interns" aren't allowed to displace actual employees if they're unpaid.
