Hi-Life Cafe Closed

Just a few months after "renowned" Chef Carlos Fernandez left to clear his head, Hi-Life restaurant has closed. They already have an eviction notice on the door, so it's fairly clear that they stopped paying rent a while back.

Fernandez gained notoriety in 2006 with appearances on Bravo TV's Top Chef. Hi-Life is one of those restaurants hyped up by the Gay community, but I never saw a serious review of the place. Situated in the back of a strip mall well off of US1, it was easy to miss the place. I don't think the place will be missed.

I loved this restaurant! I am still looking for a similar place
with no luck. Several times each year, they would offer fixed
menu dinners with match wines (included) with each of about
5 courses, usually starting with fabulous pass-around before
sitting down, also with an appropriate wine.
If you know of a similar place, please post it. Thanks!

It will definitely be missed. It was a great restaurant and it was Zagat rated 26 out of 30. Not sure what YOU consider a " serious" review, but trust me, if you had eaten there, you'd be mourning the loss.

The Zagat rating was BS. The gay community pumped this place up, but Carlos was never as good as advertised. Nobody except the owner's friends ever went there, so the Zagat rating is completely bogus.
