Now open with Johnny V in the kitchen. Let's see how long that lasts.

Prices are predictably outrageous, although they claim that everything is USDA Prime (let's see how long that lasts).

Their Happy hour menu is basically Johnny V's old menu converted to small $6 small plates. Conch Chowder, a mini charcuterie, truffle fries, flatbread. It also features cheap wines by the glass; a true prime steak house experience. For $12 you can get a glass of Pinot Grigio from a $10 bottle and a bowl of conch chowder.

*****************
Leon "Jack" Jackson is back; he's taking over the old Tony B's location and opening another steakhouse. Hopefully "Prime" will be USDA Prime and not just a fake restaurant euphemism.

Jackson was the longtime owner of Jackson's Steakhouse and previous Burt and Jack's; a restaurant co-owned by Burt Reynolds. Jackson subsequently opened Jackson's Bar and Grill and "Fish" on SE 17th (which is now Market 17); both restaurants failed in short order.

Jackson's $49 lamb chops

Jackson's Steakhouse was well known for its power broker lunches (Wayne Huizenga had an office in the building); after the crash in 2008 the local money dried up and Jackson teamed up with the Bovas and Scott Rothstein just before the Ponzi scheme collapsed. Jackson's was closed and another restaurant was planned before the Feds came in and shut down everything.

When the shutdown began, I wondered how many places wouldn't ever reopen. Restaurants that were losing money, or worse, bleeding cash before the shutdown would have to consider shutting down permanently.

Jackson's Prime will not be re-opening.

Someone asked me if I thought that Jackson's "Stuffed Maine Lobster" might be spiny lobster since they don't give you the claws. It's hard to tell after it's been cooked and covered with breadcrumbs, but I wouldn't order it. The claws are the best part, so it sounds like a trick to me. Spiny lobster is junk to me; it's not worth taking the chance.

Just one review of the place by the guy so desperate to sound like a food critic that you just cringe reading his reviews. When are you going to try it?

$9 per shrimp for the shrimp cocktail. Who is that stupid?
