*****

Sage Oyster Bar is the sister location of Sage French Cafe in Fort Lauderdale. The cuisine is french and they have oysters and jumbo shrimp that they work into the menu. Its a smallish place, with a front bar area and a modest dining room with an open kitchen. The bar area has stool chairs (with backs) and 4 big screen TVs. The bar is ceramic tile and somewhat unique. They've changed it so their website pictures are out date. They've opened it up and removed the lamps.

Some of the people who work here have french accents and they're a big difficult to understand. Service is definitely a minus here. They seem overmatched. Its not a very big place.

On Sunday they have a brunch buffet for $19.95 which can be a pretty good deal if you take advantage of the higher ticket items. You get 1 drink; a choice of mimosa or bloody mary. Figure the drink is worth $5 so for $14.95 you get an all you can eat buffet with oysters and shrimp.

Sage buffet

The buffet includes the following: Raw Oysters, Jumbo Shrimp, Salad, French Toast, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Home Fries, Fruit, Eggs Benedict and a Loin of Pork carving station. You can also order an omelet made to order from a waitress.

The scrambled eggs are embarrassing; big blocks of yellow stuff remininscent of breakfasts in the college cafeteria. The bacon isn't done enough for my taste. The eggs benedict are luke warm; the hollandaise is pretty good. The oysters and cocktail sauce are excellent. So for $19.95 I had 2 eggs benedict, bacon, home fries, 4 Jumbo Shrimp, 4 Oysters, 2 slices of loin of pork and a mimosa. Of course I could have had more. The place is pretty nice and not overly crowded so I'd have to give it a thumbs up as brunch buffets go in the area.
