Critic's Review
Perhaps the most unlikely name for a cuban cuisine restaurant would be Las Vegas, but that's what we have here. This is a chain restaurant with multiple locations all in South Florida. Located in a strip mall, it doesn't look like much of a restaurant from the outside.
Inside are big murals and dark wood tables and chairs.
The ambience here is typically uncomfortable for some reason. There's no bar and eating along is a big weird. They have a TV blaring some spanish channel which was highly annoying. Most of the diners were not hispanic; so it's just rude for the staff to have on whatever they want rather than what the customers might like. There's also music playing, which combined with the TV create an audio chaos.
They have specials every day; one for each type of meat and a fish special. Baby Churrasco is a regular special. It's really just a grilled skirt steak.
It was a skinny steak; not bad but not a lot of food either. The chimichurri sauce provided was only so-so; a bit vinegary. Considering that I don't eat rice, maybe I'm not being fair. With the bread and the rice it would have been plenty. I'm just not sure that the small piece of meat is worth $9.95. Ropa Vieja is only $6.95 when it's the special; and that's generally skirt steak. So why is the steak $9.95 when its grilled? It can't possibly be a smaller portion than this.
With Las Colinas and El Tamarindo about the same distance from me, I'd rather go to one of them before I came here again.
