Forget Infinity Voice. Get MagicJack

Every time I see an Infinity voice commercial, I want to throw something at the TV. There may be nothing wrong with it. It might be a great service. But it seems to me that the only way anyone would buy it would be if they didn't know about MagicJack. Their latest commercials tout unlimited LOCAL service. Are you KIDDING me? What is this, 1992?

What is MagicJack? Its a little USB device that plugs into your computer. It has a telephone jack that you plug your telephone into. Thats it. When you first get it, you sign up online and you can chose your phone number. The cost: $40. for the device which includes 1 full year of service. After that, its $20/year. They run specials for 5 years for $65. It includes local and long distance within the USA. You can buy minutes for long distance calling. Have relatives overseas? Send them a MagicJack and you can talk to them all day long for free.

I use it on one of my MACs and it works perfectly; certainly better than my cell phone. The only caveat is that for the USB device, you're computer has to be turned on. I leave mine on all of the time, so that's fine with me. Its like having a land line. They have another model now that you can plug directly into a power outlet. Either way, you get free voice mail, so calls go to voice mail when you're not online. Its great as a second option to your cell, or if you want to start a business and want a dedicated phone number and voice mail.

I have MagicJacks for 2 businesses and I've saved literally thousands of dollars over the past few years.

There are many people who complain about MagicJack, but in most cases its not the product themselves. Any hiccup on your PC will cause a voice problem. Calls may be dropped due to intermediate problems. These are the same issues as with cell phones; Telephone companies are overloaded.

With South Florida Comcast Infinity, I have fewer problems with MagicJack than I do with Cell Phone calls. You'll likely have the same problems with any VoIP service, and there are none less expensive or more portable than MagicJack.
