Critic's Review
Tom Sawyer is one of those places you'd never go to if you didn't know something about it in advance. From the outside, it looks like one of these anonymous small business offices where they don't expect any foot traffic. The windows are tinted dark and small.
When you walk in you see a small room with dark wood that looks something like the inside of a log cabin with no windows. There's a cutout on the left where you need to "check in" to get a table. An irritant is that there are numerous empty tables, but there's people waiting. There's no counter; and there's little room to wait. To me its dark and dingy.
I guess what people like about this place is the big portions and the 60s ambience, but it doesn't do it for me. Breakfast is one of those meals that I excel at when it comes to preparing it myself, and I want something better or different when I go out. They give you a lot of food here, but its pedestrian stuff.
I'm not a bisquits and gravy kind of guy, so maybe this place just isn't my cup of tea. If you're into big calorie breakfasts and you don't feel like waiting at iHop, you might have a different opinion.
They serve lunch here also, but do you go to iHop for dinner? I suppose that some do.
