Ten years ago, the Samba Room was the hottest spot on Las Olas. Friday nights started and ended at the Samba Room. Four years ago, it was still a pretty hot spot on Friday nights, but on other nights you’d have no trouble getting a seat there. On Friday; they closed their doors for good.

Mark Militello, the reknowned chef and former owner of Mark’s Las Olas, is bringing his culinery skills back to Fort Lauderdale. Militello is taking over operations at Trina in the Atlantic Hotel. Construction on J Mark’s restaurant is in full gear as the building that was Bennigan’s has been gutted. Judging from the rich decor at their Pompano location, there’s a lot of work to be done to transform the drab Bennigan’s decor. They plan to open in Summer 2010.
