Sep 6th, 2010

Consider this the definitive guide to watching football in or near Fort Lauderdale. As a football enthusiast and blue bleeding New York Giants fan; I take my football seriously. One of the few things I don’t like about South Florida is not being able to watch Giants games in my pajamas with a big pot ……

Sun Sentinel Joins the Circus Act

Aug 27th, 2010

A few months ago I wrote about how ridiculous the New Times reader polls where. Reader polls are such desperate attempts at fostering user participation its really quite sad. Recently, the Sun Sentinel has inexplicably decided to join the clown parade with its own “reader poll”. Of course they won’t post the actual results of ……

Cafe Europa Re-Opens on Las Olas

Aug 25th, 2010

The wait is over. Cafe Europa has returned to Las Olas.

Sometimes things that seem bad can be good. When Cafe Europa and O’Haras were closed so that the greedy hotel owners could expand their building into some sort of a 5 star palace, locals were livid. When they failed to obtain financing and ultimately ……

The Bus Loop gets Greedy

Aug 25th, 2010

Those involved with charity often consider themselves morally superior; after all they donate their time for good causes. They also usually consider themselves immune from criticism, even when they go too far. In a depressed economy, when many are out of work and many more are making far less than they were 2 years ago; ……

Samba Room Closes

Aug 15th, 2010

Ten years ago, the Samba Room was the hottest spot on Las Olas. Friday nights started and ended at the Samba Room. Four years ago, it was still a pretty hot spot on Friday nights, but on other nights you’d have no trouble getting a seat there. On Friday; they closed their doors for good.

Samba ……

Bikini Contest Returns

Aug 10th, 2010

Not too many years ago, Bikini Contests were an integral part of the culture in Fort Lauderdale. For locals, perhaps they became mundane, but for men of all ages visiting the area they were as much a part of a vacation as the drinks and sunbathing. For the past few years, the only place to ……

Chart House Opening

Aug 9th, 2010

When Landry’s Restaurants acquired Meur in 2002 the economy was much different than it is today, at least in South Florida. Charlie’s Crab was one of the acquired brands, and the high-priced restaurant on the intracoastal was one of the best seafood restaurants in South Florida. But Charlies didn’t do well in the down economy, ……

Cafe Europa Returning

Aug 5th, 2010   910 Las Olas Blvd Fort Lauderdale

It appears that Cafe Europa is getting close to opening. Their patio and awning are in, and they’ve been “hiring” for about a month now. I expect them to open shortly.

Duffy’s Late Lunch

Aug 4th, 2010

Often you’d go into the Red Zone on a Saturday and there’d be no-one in there. Since Duffy’s took the place over, things are very different. As someone who prefers to go to lunch after 2pm rather than mix it up with those with a fixed lunch hour, I appreciate when they’re doing.

Every Monday to ……

Big City Tavern is one of the most popular bars in Fort Lauderdale best known for its bar scene on weekends. What most people don’t know is that they have a brunch menu that’s served on Saturday and Sundays from 11:30 to 2:30pm.

Chipotle Mexican Grill Coming to Fort Lauderdale

Smith and Jones closed its doors Sunday morning. After a rocky couple of years in a bad economy, Smith and Jones chose to close for reasons unknown. Sous Chef Ted Inserra had left on July 6 to take a position at a new venue opening in the Riverfront complex.

Smith and Jones struggled for an identity ……

Tokyo Blue Now Open

Jul 18th, 2010

Tokyo Blue, a new Asian-themed restaurant located off the lobby in the Ocean Manor Resort hotel, opened last night to modest crowds. Few even knew about the place, due to poor marketing and a strange, 6PM Saturday night opening. As is usual, InsideFortLauderdale was there and we have a review and our first impressions.

Wasserman-Schulz’s Numbers Don’t Add Up

Jul 16th, 2010

As an affluent, educated, straight white male living in South Florida, I have to say I’m just plain embarrassed to have Debbie Wasserman Schultz as my representative. There’s nothing worse than a “representative” who couldn’t give a rat’s butt about her constituents. She lives for the progressive agenda, which is in direct conflict with the ……

Jul 10th, 2010

So you thought Sonic was a just a Drive in? I don’t think you’ll be driving your car to the second floor of the Beach Place complex, which is where Sonic will be opening a 24/7 eatery this summer. And the even more exciting news is that they will be using this location to test ……

Jornal.us Plagiarism

Jul 1st, 2010

Its difficult enough to run a business without having to worry about some loser stealing your work. There’s a person named Nelly Castillo on some brazilan web site news.jornal.us who has copied my review of Chima Brazilian Steakhouse word for word. She’s so stupid that she didn’t even try to make it look like it ……
