Royal Caribbean’s new monster cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas, arrived in Fort Lauderdale this bright, sunny morning to as much fanfare as any ship has received at Port Everglades. The 225,000 gross ton ship will tend to approximately 5,400 passengers.. The ship boasts an open-air “living” park with trees and hanging gardens, 4 pools (one of which is 17.9 feet deep allowing for high diving), a merry-go-round with hand carved wooden animals, and a wine bar, premium steakhouse and of course, a casino. The Oasis should bring much excitement and many tourists pre and post cruise into Fort Lauderdale’s local economy.

Port Everglades will be open for public viewing of the ship on Friday November 27 from Noon to 4pm. The port is closed at all other times and days except to ticketed passengers for security purposes.
