Fire Destroys Tropical Acres Kitchen

Firefighters fought flames at the Tropical Acres Steakhouse Tuesday morning, and substantial damage was done to the 60 year old landmark. The fire started shortly before 4am, and was discovered early by an officer who happened to be driving by and who noticed smoke. Firefighters contained the damage to the kitchen and laundry areas and saved the building from being burned to the ground. The dining rooms sustained water and smoke damage.

Owner Jack Studiale was confident that they would re-open, but that the restaurant would be closed for quite awhile as there is much work to be done.

Tropical Acres is well known for it's outdated decor and big, fairly priced steaks. I'm sure that it will be a much different place now that they have no choice but to remodel.
