Critic's Review

The McRib is back on Dec 2, 2020. I don't think I'll be biting this time.

Review 12/23/12

The McRib is back, and for some reason it's big news. While I've invested in McDonalds over the years; I haven't eaten there in quite some time. Once in a while I'll stop in for a Latte. But i haven't had any food there in many years. I'd never had a McRib before, mainly because they hardly ever have them, and I never really expected it to be very good. But the marketing got to me this time.

Mcdonalds boxes

This location was build in the new format, with a modern design and plank tables. While it looks less like a fast food joint; the people here continue to be the lowest common denominator. I ordered a McRib and the Angus Mushroom/Swiss burger, and the counterperson shorted me $2 on the change. After I flagged here down, she still had no understanding of what the discrepancy was. Here, the receipt says that I get $12.79 change, and you gave me $10.79. Get it?

I'd read up on the McRib and it's not really a rib a tall. It's pork that's been pressed together to form logs, and then they slather it with sauce.

McDonald's McRib Sandwich

McDonald's pickles have always been good, and the sauce on this is really tasty. The meat itself is very tender; it doesn't taste much like ribs or even much like pork. But it's not bad. A soft roll. I won't be getting all excited the next time they put them on the menu, but I've had worse sandwiches in this town.

The Angus Mushroom swiss burger was a loser, however. A well done patty with some mushrooms and too much mayo.

"Angus" doesn't really mean anything; most beef is angus and it doesn't tell you if it's good beef. I'd take a Big Mac over this thing any day.
