Critic's Review
The Daily Melt has closed. They're still taking online orders, so don't order anything.
Fort Lauderdale doesn't like Chef Allen Susser's ideas. His Burger Bar at the Airport is closed, and now the Daily Melt. I think he was just a consultant on this. His 2 restaurants failed, so then he tried burgers and grilled cheese. "Chef Allen's" as a brand is becoming quite toxic.

Evil White Bread returns; the Daily Melt is open. I'd seen their menu beforehand, and there's really nothing that excited me. I like lettuce and tomato to make a grilled cheese more substantial, but they only offer a swiss melt with lettuce and tomato. You can get an Sub here also, but I figured I'd just try the grilled cheese. I ordered a 3 cheese melt, which was $4.49; 54 cents more than the menu they have on their web site.
The place is very fast foodie; wobbly tables and uncomfortable chairs.
They have a pickle bar; sliced pickle not the big barrels of whole pickles you see at some places. I tried 2 different once that tasted almost identical; a "hot" one and a Salt Dill. Both were good as sliced pickles go.
They torture you with bad dance music; "One more time" was blaring as my sandwich was delivered.
I think the picture makes it look like there's more cheese than there was; it was a pretty thin fill. You can get double cheese for .99. It was a decent grilled cheese; not dripping with butter like Mom used to make, and not Velveeta. But a decent sandwich.
This place seems to be the opposite of every other place that's been opening; white bread, cheese on everything. But the decor is a bit too cheesy for me.
