Critic's Review

This place has a good name; I've heard it's a mediocre deli but I figured I'd find out for myself. It was well past lunch hour and the place was empty. Inside they have 2 rows of tables and bench seating against the wall; there's a long display case running the length of the deli and a counter up front with bagels and a cash register.

I ordered a chicken salad on Rye. They had the prices handwritten on the back wall and I couldn't quite read it. When she told me it was $10.55 I was a bit surprised. As I dug into my wallet I read the prices; $9.95 for a chicken salad sandwich. She told me it comes with a salad, so I asked for cole slaw.

It was ready very quickly and it came in a styrofoam container. I was expecting a massive sandwich with a huge mound of cole slaw for the price.

You can imagine my disappointment when I opened the container. The chicken salad is just a mound of shredded chicken. No celery. Hardly anything holding it together. Store rye bread; not particularly hearty. Half a pickle. It was a pretty good pickle, but you'd think for $10. they could give you a whole pickle. And the cole slaw is prefabricated junk; one taste and straight into the garbage.

The price would have been more palatable if the sandwich was something special; but it was a $6.95 sandwich for $10. With other Delis nearby I wonder why anyone would come here for their chicken salad sandwiches?
