Critic's Review
After several new owners, the Cigar Bar next door bought the place and has expanded into the space. Paradera is no more.Review 6/4/12
Paradero quietly opened over the weekend, and if you didn't know they were opened you'd never be able to tell. They don't have a sign yet; half of Arjan's old sign is still in the window. They cleaned the place up a bit; Arjan's was always a real dump. Still not fine dining, but you could eat a sandwich here.
They have a pretty interesting menu, particularly for this part of town where BBQ is nowhere to be found. The house made chorizo sounded good; it comes with grilled onions and a mustard sauce.
For $6.95, it's not a huge sandwich. The chorizo is very smokey; not your usual store packaged sausage. I tried it without the mustard sauce first, and then dipped a piece of sausage in and tasted it. Good stuff. Good bread also.
Usually when you get a chorizo sandwich it's more like a hot dog; this is much different. It's better than anything you'd get at Arjan's, that's for sure. Good BBQ just off A1A. Who would have thought?
