Normally I don't care about the downtown protests; there are a lot of them, but this one got in my way. I'm not sure how I can write anything about this without insulting someone, but I have to wonder who they were targeting by marching down Las Olas on Sunday afternoon? Were they hoping to get some sympathy from European tourists?
If you have your head in the sand, Turkey is the latest country to erupt into protests. It's sort of like Occupy Turkey. I haven't spent a lot of time trying to figure out what their bef is; apparently the ruling party demolished a popular movie theatre and dismantled a big park, but like most things in modern society, it's more about the struggle between secular youth and religious-right rule.
Not sure there's much we can do to help here in South Florida.
