Critic's Review
Dixie Family Diner has closed, and a new "Greek" Diner has opened in it's place. Dixie Family diner didn't feel like a diner; it was a room with tables and some cheap booths. This place looks and feels more like a diner, although there are no booths. They do have a diner-like counter.
The owner of this restaurant was the owner of Sea Ranch Diner in Lauderdale By The Sea.
No TV, just a picture of something in Greece. I think you need a TV. When there's breaking news you'll be empty without one.
I walked in slightly after 2, and there wasn't 1 customer in the place. This is what happens when you have no online presence. People drive by, try to Google you, and then go somewhere else when they can't find any info.
I've been the only one in a restaurant quite often, so no issue for me. Although there is no privacy, so taking pictures wouldn't be a stealthy task. I got coffee which was freshly brewed, and ordered some eggs with home fries and sausage. They serve breakfast all day.
This place is run by a middle-aged dude, so there's no Katy Perry here. In fact, the music was superb. BTO in a diner? "Let it Ride", "Spill the Wine", Skynard's "You Got That Right". A little Badfinger ("Day After Day").
The food came out in about 10 minutes.
Nice portions; not sure what they did to the sausage but it tasted ok. It came with buttered Rye Bread.
The dude is a one-man band, although for some reason they have a hostess/cashier that really has nothing to do. He's a bit over-doting. But he'll figure it out.
$9.20 for the whole she-bang, and I was out in 35 minutes.
Conclusion
A decent breakfast, certainly better than Denny's. $6.99 Cheeseburgers and Gyros. Worth a try.
