Critic's Review
Park Avenue BBQ is a chain with 9 locations from Boca and on North up to Port St Lucie. This is the former location of one of the failed Bucky's BBQ. But more interesting than that is that the building was owned by Scott Rothstein; whose empire came tumbling down just as PA was about to open in December 2009. Apparently PA worked things out as they've been humming along ever since.
Inside, dark wood dominates the decor. There's a full bar with taps and 2 big TVs.
I ordered a 1/2 rack Back with sides of Cole Slaw and Baked Beans. They give you a choice of cornbread or garlic bread; I went for the latter.
I first tasted the cole slaw; not bad but it had an unidentifiable taste; maybe anise, that I could do without. Then I tasted the beans. Whoa. These are good. With little bits of pulled pork in them, the flavor is just right. The ribs are excellent, and they give you a good portion; sometimes half racks seem a few ribs short. The bread is garbage material; not very garlicky, a bit too hard and not worth the calories.
For $12.18 this is a great value; some places get more than that for specials. This is solid food at a fair price.
