Critic's Review

This place is somewhat legendary; they've been serving sandwiches by the corner of Atlantic and A1A since 1981. It's a tiny place, just a cooler and a counter, and a couple of dudes and a big Cash Only sign.

On this day, the place reeked of bleach. I'm not sure if its always like that, but it was pretty unpleasant. There's no place to eat in here, so I guess it doesn't matter. They have a pretty short menu, and I just wanted an Italian. They have 2 sizes for for some of their subs; but only the 10" larger size for their "specialty" subs.

I asked for the sub with everything, peppers on the side. The sandwich maker here is the polar opposite of The Shack up the road; he slapped the sandwich together in no time flat and had it on the counter before the other dude could ring it up.

One thing that's consistent here in South Florida is that every sub shop is completely different. They didn't ask what I wanted; and apparently in this place "everything" is only what's listed on the menu. No pickles, no mayo, no jalapenos, no black olives no mustard. I don't know if they would have put all that stuff on if I asked for it. But you'll have to ask if you want it. They also don't include any capicola.

I ended up putting mayo and mustard on myself. There was a lot of oil on the sandwich and the tomatoes were pretty saturated by the time I got it home. With all of the missing ingredients it wasn't very satisfying. It reminds me of the subs I used to eat before I figured out how to order them. Kind of a drab, stuck in the 80s sub.
