Review 4/2/13
Not the Steve you're thinking of, but another Steve has opened a Pizzeria with a small menu. I stopped in a couple of months ago to get a slice.
For $2, not a bad slice. Not very heavy on the cheese, but a good tasting sauce.
So I decided to get a whole pie; he's very cordial on the phone and says it will be ready in 15 minutes.
I don't think that Steve does too much business, because both times I've been here there has been a bunch of duded hanging out eating and drinking. He knew who I was, because he likely didn't have any other orders since I'd ordered.
What was really surprising was that the pizza was $7.75. I have no idea how it came to that price. He mentioned something about half price, He regular price with 1 full topping is $11.50, so it wasn't half price. Who knows. My immediate thinking was, why have an unadvertised special? It's not on their menu or on the facebook page; giving discounts to people who were willing to pay full price isn't a good long term business plan.
I checked out the pizza as I put it in the car; it wasn't very impressive.
What's strange is that these 16" pizzas have really small slices; it seems that the slice I got was from an 18" pizza, but they don't sell an 18" pizza. This was a typical South Florida pizza. A small, weak pizza with little cheese and just a spackling of decent sausage.
I suppose if I got this pie at a bar for $7.75 I'd be pretty happy with it, but it's not good enough for me when I'm in the mood for a pizza. I'd rather pay more for something a lot better than this.
