Critic's Review
I had some business in Pompano and the suggestion made by the "locals" didn't appeal to me, so I stopped off at the Fiesta Flea Market on the way home. For a relatively small Flea Market, there are a lot of food choices; and there seem to be a lot of people who just hang out in the food court and get lunch. I'd seen this Bagel/Deli place the last time I was here. There always seemed to be a line, so maybe it was good? There was quite a line at about 12:30pm, so I waited with the folks. They have a half sandwich + soup special that I didn't know about until afterwards that I probably would have ordered have I known. While waiting on line you can check out the salads and knishes in the display cases.
I ordered a pastrami on rye, which comes with cole slaw or potato salad for $9.99. They stack it pretty good.
The bread isn't deli special; It's a good but regular rye. The pastrami is top notch, and you have to stretch to get this baby in you mouth. Good deli mustard, but not enough for the big sandwich. I see why people are waiting; this is $12 at most good delis in the area.
Opening the cole slaw was pointless; this was the worst cole slaw I've ever had. The cabbage wasn't even marinated and there was no particular seasoning; it's like they threw some mayo and sugar into some cabbage and loaded it into little cups before it was cole slaw.
Good pastrami; lousy cole slaw. A typical NY style deli in the Flea Market.
