Critic's Review
The dawg house is gone, and Dos Amigos has opened in it's place.
Inside, the place has been redecorated but still maintains the lines of a storefront fast food place. Very rectangular, counter up front. They do have some booths on the right side.
They've swapped out the checkered tables with something more rustic, and there's some Mexican art on the walls.

Service here is a little bit weird. It's one of those places where the whole family is present; the kids are seated at the rear boot and they run back and forth quite often. I got a menu when I first sat down; chips came right away along with an iced tea, but then it took quite a while before someone took my order. I actually had to flag down a guy to ask a question; I wanted the chile relleno with cheese, and I ended up ordering the Chile Relleno / Chicken Enchilada combo for a very reasonable $8.25.
The salsa was quite good, clearly freshly made. They should put it in a different disk as it's difficult to scoop out of the one provided without the salsa ending up on the table. I liked the salsa.
They play spanish language music, with El Ventarron mixed in with some Christmas Music. I was the only customer in the store, and none came in during my entire visit (2:10pm to 2:45pm). The food came out in about 10 minutes.
One thing good is that they give you a choice of beans that includes black beans; refried are more traditional but black beans are a nice change. I've this same combo recently at Carlos and Pepe's and Casa Tequila, and this was the best of the 3. The Chicken Enchilada actually had some taste. The chile relleno had an egg batter and wasn't as heavily coated as the others.
The only criticism was that the Chile Relleno had some seeds, which aren't something you want in your mouth.
I was trying to get my check and nobody noticed; the polar opposite of Casa Tequila where someone checked on my every 2 minutes. I thought one guy noticed me waving, but they he said good-bye and tailed it out the back door.
Conclusion
This people are not seasoned restauranteurs, but that's not unusual for Mexican restaurants. It has a storefront ambiance and uneven service, but the food is good and the prices are very reasonable; just over $10 for what I had. If you're in the are I'd recommend that you try it.
