Critic's Review
Review 8/5/17
My Sunday Pizza ritual ended long ago, mainly because the pizza is South Florida sucks. With Game of Thrones must-watch on Sundays for the next few weeks, I decided to pick up a pizza. My first thought was Pizza City; formerly Ats-a-Pizza, which is under new ownership. But after reading some reviews of the new ownership I decided not to risk it. The Pie-Zan people took over this space which has previously been Zios, Hungry Howies and Steve's; all very short lived. I'd last visited their other location 4 years ago, so it was time to see how they've evolved.
I called to order as I arrived at Trader Joe's where I had to pick up a few things. By the time I got here is was 20 minutes later and the pie was ready. They had told me 25 minutes so nothing wrong with that.
I looked at the pie as I put it in my trunk and disappointment filled my soul. This is a $17.44 pizza?
You don't even have to taste this to know it's not a very good pizza. Not enough sauce, not enough cheese; just a large piece of tomato bread. $2. for a topping and they don't even have good sausage.
Just for reference, this is what a real $17 Long Island pizza looks like:
And this is what you get in South Florida
Conclusion
When I lived on Long Island and my first 2 years down here I got a pizza every Sunday as a matter of habit and ritual. I stopped because of pizza like this; It went from being a weekly treat to a weekly disappointment. When I first moved here I could get a pizza for $11 and it was better than this. The problem here is that they give you the $9.99 Monday special pizza for $17.50 on Sundays, and it's just not worth it. $3 worth of food for $17 is insulting enough; at least give me enough cheese to make the product qualify as a pizza.
This place is exactly like every other bad pizzeria in town; higher prices and lower quality product as time goes by. I'd rather make myself a bowl of pasta than eat this.
